Saudi woman jailed for offending religious police

SHAFAQNA (Shia News Association) — Holy city of Mecca for allegedly wearing inappropriate clothing and improper behavior by an officer from the Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice.

The women then started to yell at the officer and spit at him.

Saudi Arabia has already been under fire from rights groups for systematic discrimination against women. Women are even banned from voting in Saudi Arabia.

On January 22, Human Rights Watch said in a statement that Saudi authorities “continue to suppress or fail to protect the rights of 9 million Saudi women and girls.”— www.shafaqna.com/english/
