Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi congratulates Egyptian nation over new President

SHAFAQNA (Shia News Association) — A senior Iranian cleric lauded the Egyptian nation for their resistance against hijacking their revolution and congratulated the people for electing an Islamic president.

Grand Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi, Iranian top jurisprudent and professor at Qom Seminary called the victory of an Islamic president in Egyptian election as an important victory for the Muslims and a beginning for great changes in the Middle East.

On the situation for the non-Muslim citizens he said, “Certainly non-Muslims should not be concerned over their life under the new Islamic government, the same way that religious minorities in our country live in full freedom.”

He said the west, like the Zionist regime, has to acknowledge that this is not an Arab Spring but and Islamic Spring, saying, “They have to recognize the rights of the Muslims and stop the plots that worsens a feeling of hatred against themselves.”  — www.shafaqna.com/english/
