SHAFAQNA (Shia News Association) — Graduates from the UPC Barcelona School of Informatics were able to develop an app that will reportedly allow users to leave voice messages on social networking platforms. Called uWhisp, it’s actually a simple plug-in that can be installed on your browser. The team – composed by members Luri Aranda, Joan Casas, Miquel Las Heras, and Miquel Puig – explained that once uWhisp is installed, it will be displayed directly on Facebook and Twitter. Essentially, the application creates a widget on the user’s browser for recording and sending messages via any website that accepts written text, such as social networking sites.
The developers added that each time a message is recorded, that message will be stored as a local audio file. uWhisp will even allow its users to listen and play the message back to make sure that they like the message or that the message is correct. If users will decide to approve the message, it will then be stored on uWhisp’s servers, waiting to be posted. “What is actually published is a link that the plug-in turns into a voice player. If the message recipient does not have the appropriate extension, the link leads to the UWHISP website, where the message can be heard,” the developers said.
