Bombing kills 25, injures dozens in southern Yemen

SHAFAQNA (Shia International News Association) — A bomb attack has killed at least 25 people and wounded dozens of other people at a funeral in a village in Yemen's southern province of Abyan.

Saturday’s blast targeted tribesmen who fought alongside the Yemeni army during an offensive against militants in Abyan in June, Reuters reported.

The Yemeni army was able to recapture the province during the June operation.

A doctor at al-Razi hospital said, "We have many people with critical injuries and we don't have the means to treat them.”

Meanwhile, officials said a bomb attack in a busy market in the country’s second largest city Taiz left at least six people dead and 10 others injured on Friday.

In May, a bombing in Sana’a killed about 120 people, mainly soldiers.

Last month, Yemen announced it had placed its security services on high alert to prevent "terrorist" attacks after it uncovered a plot to launch assaults against security and military checkpoints. —www.shafaqna.com/english
