A whole family arrested and their home remains besieged

SHAFAQNA (Shia News Association) - Al Wefaq wholly condemns the recent escalation in oppressive behaviour and other terrifying acts being practiced by the regime. “We express our disproval of the consistently repressive approach the regime is now adopting. We very much condemn the regimes descent further and further into the security approach. The regimes ongoing human rights violations are ineligible to produce a fair political solution in which the aspirations of the people are met and their legitimate demands for democracy are met.”

“Bahrain is suffering from a form of masked dictatorship. Any talk of democracy is a lie. Democracy does not fall within the mentality of the regime. The security-based measures are arrogantly adopted, regardless of the repression and mistreatment suffered by the people who are seeking their liberty and dignity. What is happening on the ground is an absolute dictatorship. The full power and capabilities of the state are being used to crackdown on the people and silence their legitimate demands.” Al Wefaq stated.

Al Wefaq clarified, “The regime is implementing a systematic plan to inhumanely raid villages and residential areas in order to spread terror, and take revenge against those calling for democracy. These systematic security acts include raiding homes, vandalising their contents as well as theft. Moreover, the mercenaries of the regime have severely beaten residents in homes they raid, humiliating them and verbally abusing them including women and children, without any legal, moral, religious or customary deterrent.”

“Furthermore, there are ongoing unjust arbitrary arrests conducted by the regimes forces patrolling villages late at night and in the early morning, in order to forcibly raid homes and terrify innocent citizens.”

“These raids continue systematically in many areas throughout Bahrain. During these violations, personal items are stolen such as mobile phones, money and other valuables. Doors have been broken down and homes turned upside down by security forces.”

Al Wefaq added, “In the same context of these security measures and in order to spread terror, the regime has set up many checkpoints over the past two weeks in several areas. This has caused serious traffic jams and disturbed the interests of all citizens and expatriates.”

“Arbitrary arrests, raids and collective punishment continues on areas and villages until now. The regime forces used the internationally prohibited fission bullets, as well as rubber bullets, suffocating tear gas and stun grenades.”

“Many of the areas have been intensely flooded with poisonous gases, in targeting the lives of innocent people with suffocating gases which are thrown into houses or crowded neighbourhoods.”

“Many citizens have been arbitrarily arrested during the extensive raids of homes in several areas. Meanwhile the regime is still keeping a whole family from Jidali in prison, including three women. This is after the regime forces raided their home a couple of days previously and arrested all those inside. Although the children are still in the home, regimes forces continue to besiege it.” Al Wefaq said.
