Cleric demands Premier League football to be scrapped in Ramadan

SHAFAQNA (Shia News Association) — One of the Islamic Jurisprudents demanded the football league to be scrapped due to the holy month of Ramadan.

The Islamic Jurisprudent, Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi demanded the football league to be scrapped in the holy month of Ramadan.

“Muslims should abide by their culture and religion, telling to the world our culture does not let us to do this (playing in the Premier League),” said the Islamic scholar.

Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi went on, “One of the great traditions after the victory of Islamic Revolution of Iran was scrapping the Premier League Football on account of the holy month of Ramadan.”

“Such policy turn the attention of the youth to ritual traditions and make them give more attention to Islamic rules and instructions,” said the Islamic scholar.

Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi underscored that in the past recent years, the importance of the Islamic rules on deaf ears and such League held during the holy month of Ramadan.

Qom seminary instructor wished the succor players and the youth luck and urged them to give more attention to this holy month. — www.shafaqna.com/english/
