Google deploys Indoor Maps for Google Maps in the U.K.

SHAFAQNA (Shia News Association) — If you’re planning to spend your whole time this summer in London for the Olympics, then don’t forget to bring your smartphone or tablet with you. That’s because Google has just released the Indoor Maps feature on Google Maps for various locations in the U.K. Google first launched Indoor Maps on Google Maps last year in a few selected areas in the U.S. and Japan. You can check out the list of supported areas here.

But today, however, Google is bringing the nifty functionality to Great Britain. “We’re happy to announce that today Google is launching indoor maps for Android devices in the UK. You’ll no longer need to feel clueless when you’re at the railway station, trying to figure out where to buy a coffee before you rush to catch your train from platform 11; nor will you feel embarrassed about asking for the lingerie section when you’re in the department store – because you’ll have all the answers in the palm of your hand,” Google announced.

To access the feature, simply open the Google Maps app and zoom in on the location you want to search. Google said that they were able to work with people in more than 40 venues in the U.K. – ranging from department stores, art galleries, and train stations – just to have the indoor floor plans plotted.—www.shafaqna.com/english/
