SHAFAQNA – On the occasion of the 43rd anniversary of Late Imam Sayyed Muhsin Al-Hakim and the 1st anniversary of Late Grand Ayatullah Sayyed Muhammed Ali Al-Hakim, a memorial program was organized in Montreal, Canada.
Several speakers from different cities participated in the program and discussed the religious, social and political contributions of the Marji’iyah at that time.
Sayyed Ali Al-Mousawi, representative of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq in Canada, mentioned one of the achievements of Imam Al-Hakim in establishing over 70 Islamic libraries in Iraq and many other outside Iraq, which acted as a tool to propagate the message of Ahlulbayt (A.S.) and to create Islamic awareness within the society.
Also, Dr. Sayyed Khalil Tabatabai, grandson of Late Imam Al-Hakim and president of Imam Hussain Charitable Foundation, gave a speech about the life history of the two great scholars.
“He spent 80 years of his life in the service of the Shia Muslim school of thought and cared about the Islamic unity just like Ahlulbayt (A.S.).” Dr. Khalil said.
He added “His main objective was to revive the Islamic Seminary (Hawza) in in the holy city of Najaf and attracted over 8000 new students from various parts of the world.”
The memorial was concluded with a lecture by Sheikh Haidar Al-Khafaji.
This event emphasised the importance of knowledge, scholars and Maraji’ in the Islamic society. May Allah have mercy on those who passed away and protect those who are alive.
