SHAFAQNA (Shia News Association) — Activists have released video footage showing alleged potential suicide bombers being presented at an auction in western Saudi Arabia before being shipped off to Syria.

The video, leaked in early May, shows the auction taking place in a hotel in the Saudi port city of Jeddah.

It shows a father putting his would-be suicide bomber son up for auction in exchange for the compensation he expects to be offered by the highest bidder.

The father, Abu-Salah, receives 1.5 million Saudi riyals (roughly USD 400,000), for offering his son, Khaled, as “sacrifice.”

Some sources say that among the bidders were high-ranking officials from the ruling Al Saud clan.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since mid-March 2011.

Hundreds of people, including many members of the Syrian security forces, have been killed during the violence.

The Syrian government says outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorists are the driving factor behind the turmoil and deadly violence, while the opposition accuses the security forces of being behind the killings.

Damascus also says that the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country and that the security forces have been given clear instructions not to harm civilians.

On Thursday, the Syrian Ambassador to the UN, Bashar al-Jafari handed to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), the names of 26 foreign terrorists involved in recent violence in the country.

Al-Jafari told the Security Council that the 26, some of whom were affiliated to al-Qaeda, had admitted that they were terrorists and had entered Syria to carry out terrorist attacks.  — www.shafaqna.com
