Shia cleric criticizes gay parade in Azerbaijan

SHAFAQNA (Shia International News Association) — A Shia cleric, Ayatollah Javadi Amoli, slammed authorities over approving a gay parade held in Azerbaijan calling that the worst sin committed by Azeri heads.

Ayatollah Abdullah Javadi Amoli, Shia jurisprudent and professor at Qom Seminary attending the first cultural festival of seclusion held in the holy shrine of Hazrat Masoumeh (AS) in Qom, referred to the religious crisis in Azerbaijan saying that the solution to that is not through force.

“This is not a problem to be solved by sword (force)” said the cleric adding, “Let’s pray for uprooting of amorality in this country.”

On the eve of I’tikaf (seclusion) days, this interpreter of holy Qur’an, secludes should have a global viewpoint and include rescue of the Middle East from the oppressive rulers and amoralities in their prayers.

The move has raised reactions from several religious figures and jurisprudents denouncing the act besides other Islamophobic measures taken by authorities in Azerbaijan.   – www.shafaqna.com
