About Masjid-e-Ali (a.s)

Masjid-e-Ali (a.s) (Muslim Foundation Inc.) is a charitable, non-profit organization and its activities are carried out without any  profits for its members. All donations received and accretions are used for promoting its aims and objectives.

The objective of the Organization is to help Muslims of all faiths particularly Jafri faith, to become better human beings in the path of the Ahlulbayt (A.S.) and be good citizens of USA.

History

Masjid-e-Ali (A.S.) (Muslim Foundation Inc.) was founded in the year 1980 by a group of people who had the wisdom and love for Islam and had the insight that the future lies in getting together and developing cooperation, love and affection between different members of the community. The first Constitution of the organization was signed by under mentioned stalwarts and was incorporated on December 10, 1981.

Objectives

The primary objective of the organization has been to promote life of all Muslims (particularly followers of Jafri faith) in accordance with divine laws for the well-being of the community and to achieve peaceful co-existence and harmony with other ethnic groups and followers of other faiths living in USA.

Activities

To move towards attainment of these objectives it was considered necessary to first promote activities that will bring the “individuals” to a single platform where they could be woven into a community. Progress in this respect was mainly achieved by publication of Books and Magazines.  Over a period of 20 years, 26 books were published in English, many of which are used by the teachers as well as students in the Sunday Schools. Some of these could be read in the libraries and on the Internet. In addition, a popular quarterly magazine, The Message of Peace (Pyam-e-Aman) was published for over a decade.

Books have been sent over the past two decades to the correction facilities, to help disseminate message of Islam to the prisoners.

MFI organized “Husain Day” for 24 years to let people of all faith; beliefs and religions have the correct image of Islam. Imam Husain (as) stood up alone to eliminate corruption and reform the society and in the process sacrificed his life and that of his children but did not comprise with the tyrant rulers and warmongers. This has become an example for all nations Muslims as well and non-Muslims. By observing this day MFI was able to bring to the platform speakers from all religions and local and state officials.

A variety of interfaith meetings, religious and educational seminars and other social events are arranged to promote better understanding and harmony between people of different ethnic groups.

Mosque

With the ever-increasing Shia Ithna-asheri population in Central Jersey, Masjid-e-Ali (a.s) (Muslim Foundation Inc.) embarked on the noble cause of building a mosque, and, purchased a building on a 3.3-acre parcel of land at a cost of $550,000. This was a major milestone on a journey to fulfill an absolute need and a long-cherished dream of the community. Most of our members live within a radius of 20 miles of the property.

Mosque is our identity and by the Grace of Allah SWT the foundation of Masjid-e-Ali (A.S.) on 15th Shaba'an 1427 AH / September 9, 2006.

Masjid-e-Ali (A.S.)'s (Muslim Foundation Inc.) strength lies in its very democratic Constitution. It helps to bring in the right people to the right job through regular elections held every three years.
