Representative of Ayatollah Al-Sistani and prayer leader of Imam Hussain’s holy shrine attacked in Karbala

SHAFAQNA (Shia International News Association) - Unidentified persons Sunday attacked the house of the representative of a top Shi’a cleric in Karbala with a stun bomb, an eyewitness said, adding the attack left no casualties.

“A stun bomb attack targeted the house of Sayyid Ahmed al-Safi, the representative of top Shiite cleric Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali al-Sistani, in al-Naqeeb neighborhood, one km away from central Karbala,” the eyewitness said reporters.

“Security forces sealed off the area and denied citizens access to the site of the attack that left no casualties or losses to Safi’s house or nearby houses,” he added.

Karbala Governor Amal al-Din al-Hirr told that the “terrorists, who failed to spark chaos in the city, targeted Sayyid Safi’s house this time”.

A few days ago, the holy city was the scene of a stun bomb attack on the headquarters of al-Wefaq Movement of Iyad Allawi, the leader of the al-Iraqiya List, and also an attempt on the life of a local official in Karbala with an improvised explosive device, added Hirr.
