Iranian President opens 1st Int’l gathering on youth and Islamic Awakening

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad inaugurated the first International Conference of the Islamic Awakening and Youths here Sunday morning.

Over 1,200 young people from Iran as well as 73 other world countries are participating in the two-day gathering. A number of Islamic world scholars and thinkers are also present in the meeting. The young people taking part in the conference have been active in recent developments in the Middle East and North Africa. Supreme Leader's advisor Ali Akbar Velayati, who is also the Secretary-General of the World Assembly of Islamic Awakening, former Iraqi prime minister Ibrahim Jaafari and Secretary-General of Palestine Jihad Movement Abdullah Ramadhan will deliver speeches at the meeting.
The first ever conference on the Islamic Awakening was held in September 2011 in Tehran with participation of 700 scholars and thinkers from the Islamic world. The supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei attended the meeting as well.
